THE AIREDALE is my most recent large painting. It measures 36" x 48". Coming up with a food product that reflects Airedales was a little challenge. Airedale is a region of in Yorkshire, England and there wasn't an indigenous food that seemed to tie the dog and region together. I then went to just the dog. I here from Airedale people that Airedales are funny, crazy dog. This made me think of the term "Bananas" as in crazy. So then it was Banana Cream Pie. The tie to the Airedale region came with the "Road House". I think of old England and road house where people would stop for dinner and a bed. I like the subtlety of this painting with the bright lettering and bananas. It is always fun to paint these interesting snouts. The painting is available as are limited edition prints, custom prints where a name replaces Airedale and products with the art on it in my Cafe Press gift site.To see more go to:

I'm real happy about this painting. For me, a Japanese food theme was exciting. I thought of several different option, but when it got down to it, I thought, who doesn't like Teriyaki. It's great combination of salty and sweet, kind of like a Shiba Inu.

The only difficulty in a painting of a dog like this is their a wide variation of coloration. it seems most are reddish orange and off white, but there are dark brown ones also. So what I did is combine some of both. I think the dark patches also make for a more interesting painting.

The Japanese on the bowl reads Shiba Inu.

Labrador Chocolate Ale

A few weeks ago I completed this painting and published the print series. What is particularly exciting about the original is that I donated it to my local Humane Society (King County Humane Society) for their Tuxes and Tails auction that was held last weekend. Along with this painting, I donated a bunch of limited edition prints. Hopefully, they raised many thousands of dollars

I've finish my English Bull dog and he's back from the photographer. Painting his big massive head was interesting. I had never painted one of these guys before. I am really happy with the antique yellow background color. The original of this is available as are limited edition prints and custom prints.

I've already started on my next major painting. It is a Chocolate Lab and the title is "LABRADOR CHOCOLATE ALE" My "LABRADOR PALE ALE", a yellow lab and "LABRADOR DARK ALE" have been quite popular. I'll have my Labs and their beers done. Funny, I rarely drink beer.

I'll be donating this painting to my local Humane Society's "Tuxes and Tails" auction. Buy it there and it''s a tax write off.

I've also made some changes to my web-site. A more minimalist look.

Retail paradise

In paradise - A new retailer for my art. St. Johnimals is new luxury pet boutique on St. John, US Virgin Islands.

The location is Wharfside Village. The phone number is 340-777-9488. E-mail info@StJohnimals.com. If you're in the area, stop be and see their great boutique. Beautiful store in a beautiful place.

I visited St.John in the mid 90's A friend of mine, Rick Felishmann, is a sail boat captain and we (four couples) rented this boat and sailed between the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. Great fun.

Would delivering prints personally be a tax write-off?
